Kaya is collaborating with a handful of talented youngsters from red-light areas for their next album.
Their World Cup song was lapped up by Kolkatans and now Kaya is set for a fresh challenge. The band is currently collaborating with a handful of talented youngsters from red-light areas for an album.
The band members came across singers like RatanDolui, MitaMondol and SamarChel through an organization working for sex workers' rights.

That was when they decided to make an album with them. “Despite having talent, they did not get an opportunity to showcase their singing prowess. On meeting the younsters, we decided to give them a platform to prove their mettle," said band member Arindam.
Three of the young guns are now recording for the album along with their friend PriyankaChokroborty, an outsider. “Each of them has a different voice, so we had to compose accordingly. A workshop was also organized for them," Arindam added. There are eight songs in this album written by ShampaChakraborty. A fan of MdRafi and SonuNigam, Ratan said, “We always wanted to do some thing in the world of entertainment. We had started a band and did a few shows, but could not do much with it. This album is a dream come true for us. We are grateful to Kaya for giving us this s opportunity." Arindam is hopeful about the album being a success. “These youngsters are really talented and deserve to make a name for themselves," added Arindam.
